All That’s Left is one of Story’s most complex compositions in terms of the sea of bubbles that envelope the painted surface. Here Story again toys with his audience by offering a close view of this swimming figure that is nevertheless completely obscured by the bountiful barms that seemingly float through the composition. Titled cleverly, this composition can remind the viewer of both the morbid and the hopeful: witnessed here is either the swimmer’s last gasp or a an ultimate reconnection with the natural world.
