While most of his works present views from beneath the waves, Red Rising Right is an exceptional work in that it offers us a vantage that Story less frequently explores: the view from above down into the water. What is equally captivating is the contrast he is able to capture here: between the strong diagonal of the active, swimming figure and the looser, less directional play of reflections across the pool’s bottom.
